Jeffrey W. Jutai is a full professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa. He is past editor-in-chief of the journal Assistive Technology and member of AGE-WELL, Canada’s technology and aging network. He is the recipient of awards for excellence in research, from uOttawa’s Faculty of Health Sciences, and for distinguished service, from RESNA, the Multidisciplinary Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology. Dr. Jutai’s research focuses on studying the factors that affect outcomes when using assistive technology devices, including how devices are prescribed and how users are educated on how to use them. He directs a program of research on measuring the impact of assistive technologies for persons who are aging with, or into, disability and for persons who provide care to these individuals. Dr. Jutai is co-author of the Psychosocial Impact of Assistive Devices Scale (PIADS), which is available in many international cultural and linguistic translations. He has published many articles on the subject of assistive technology. Dr. Jutai has chaired research grant application review panels for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR).
